South Acton Congregational Church

Children and youth are a valued and vital part of our community! At South Acton Congregational, a top priority is creating a place that is welcoming and inclusive for children of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Whether you have a small baby, a wiggly preschooler, a curious “tween” or a high school student, there is a place for you and your kids! (All adults at the church who work with children have had a criminal background check and are trained in our Safe Church Policy.)

Our nursery, for infants through preschoolers, is professionally staffed to provide caring, consistent care for our youngest members. The nursery is open throughout the worship service, every Sunday morning.

Children in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to attend the beginning of worship with their parents or caregivers, come forward for the “Message for the Young” and then adjourn downstairs for their own classes.

Our Sunday School uses the Spark Rotation curriculum, which is an inclusive, creative program that enters bible stories through art, music, science, drama, cooking, and games! Some sessions are done as a “one room school house” with older kids enjoying being helpers for the younger ones. Most sessions divide the group into an “Upper Class” and a “Lower Class.” There are a minimum of two teachers present at all times.

All high school students are encouraged to participate in our annual Mission Trip. Each fall, we begin meeting to prepare for this highlight of the year! Youth learn about our destination, do their own fundraising, and then head out to serve or build or clean up somewhere in need. Past trips have been to New York City, Kentucky, Atlanta, Maine, and Monson, MA.
